How does virtual fitness work?

People ask us all the time what is competition dojo all about. We prefer to start with what it’s not all about.
Competition dojo is not an uber-focused CrossFit WOD. It is not a spin until you drop bicycling class and it is not a run today, run tomorrow, run again the next day, exercise routine. If those approaches work for you, GREAT! If on the other hand, you have found those approaches a bit inaccessible or just not the inspiration for you, then Competition Dojo may be the answer.
Competition Dojo is a subscription service that attempts to bring the fun of competition to the rest of us. Each month our competitors get asked to participate in one or more events. The events are by design extremely varied. Some will require strength, some agility, some speed, some just a bit of luck. The idea is to challenge people across disciplines and across activities that they may not even be familiar with. The goal is primarily about fun and about simply getting off the couch and doing something.
We want to involve people in events that can be fun. They may not be things our competitors will pick up for the rest of their lives but we hope that trying new things or reintroducing activities from their past brings enjoyment to our subscribers. At the end of the day we believe that when people are given the opportunity to participate in events and compare themselves against others they will stay motivated and in the game.
We are making no claims that participating on a monthly basis is going to turn you into some all star athlete or help you to drop 30 or 40 pounds that you’ve picked up during Covid. What we do hope is that our organization can bring a bit of fun to people’s lives through competition.
To add to that fun we will always try to bring an added dimension to our events. This fun factor is not something everybody has to participate in but for those of our subscribers that are comfortable outside of their comfort zone we hope to bring some uniqueness to these events that allows folks to be themselves while still competing.
The fun factor could be singing a song while competing, wearing a costume, or maybe doing at least 1 of your basketball free throws as a trick shot. How much or how well you compete in the fun factor doesn’t affect your overall score for the event, but we will provide additional rankings that will factor in the fun to the scoring.
In addition to the core events and the fun factor we will also be providing extra events many months to keep things fresh. These extra events are one’s that our team has developed that may be a little more difficult for everyone to compete in or may not have the cleanest scoring model available. For example, we have indoor rock climbing as an extra event. This is a great activity that many of our subscribers may have never attempted. It is possible that they may not have access to an indoor rock climbing facility and admittedly, the scoring is a bit subjective due to differences in how routes are set and rated, but with all these negatives, we still feel many of our subscribers will really enjoy the nudge to get out and try something new. Again, as with the fun factor, your ability to participate in these extra events will not affect your core scoring, but we will provide additional ranking views that will let you see how you did against others even in the extra events.
Hopefully, Competition Dojo is becoming a clearer picture for you after this explanation. If you have questions please bring them to our contact page. Finally, just to sum it all up…
At Competition Dojo...
We will not be pretentious. We will be welcoming. We will be accessible. We will get you moving. We will be competitive. We will be fun.
